Sunday, October 26th, 2008
Date: Sunday 26th October 2008
Location: Laithwaite Park, Scot Lane, Wigan
Result: Wigan Athletic (2)    Birkdale United (1)

Birkdale girls made the short trip to Wigan today, for this League Cup fixture, upon arrival it became quite obvious that the pitch was very heavy, following the rain that had fallen over the last few days, but the pitch had no standing water, and the referee was happy for the fixture to go ahead.

As soon as the girls started playing football, it became apparent that the pitch though was like a big (more…)

Date: Sunday 26th October 2008, 1.00pm
Location: Carr Lane, Birkdale, Southport
Result: Birkdale D (0)    Burscough (3)

Birkdale United U11D girls football team were at their home ground of Carr Lane, Birkdale, Southport, today the girls faced Burscough in the League Cup, unfortunately though, for one reason or another, the girls never had their football heads on, which meant that there was only one team who wanted to win the match – Burscough.

The girls eventually lost 3-0, and their League cup run ended very early.

Respect

Respect was the No.1 priority emerging from the biggest opinion survey to date of grassroots football in England. The survey was carried out in late 2007 and directly informed The FA’s National Game Strategy, published in March 2008. We hope that Respect will ensure a safe, positive environment for everyone to enjoy football.

From the start it will have an impact on the following areas: (more…)

Crosby Stuart vs Birkdale N

Sunday, October 19th, 2008
Date: Sunday 19th October 2008
Location: Bootle Stadium, Maguire Ave, Bootle
Result: Crosby Stuart (2)    Birkdale N (7)

A brisk start by both teams in windy conditions saw Crosby Stuart have the first chance of the game but their striker shot the ball over the crossbar.

The first goal was scored by G. Rawsthorne for Birkdale with a shot from the left wing after five minutes, 0 – 1. (more…)

Birkdale United North vs Burscough JFC

Sunday, October 19th, 2008
Date: Sunday 19th October 2008
Location: Bedford Park, Birkdale
Result: Birkdale North (3)    Burscough JFC (0)

A workmanlike performance saw the girl’s maintain there 100% record with a comfortable 3-0 win over local rivals Burscough. After a convincing win against Crosby Stuart last week, there was always that possibility that Burscough could bring the game to Birkdale, causing one of the biggest upsets of the season. However, to the girl’s credit, they did not let the previous result go to their heads and they still managed to grind out a convincing result with an average performance. (more…)

Following the teams disappointing away trip of last week, we found ourselves back on familiar territory with a home fixture against Athletico Girls.

With E. Harrison away for the weekend, A. Seddon stepped up and volunteered to mind the goal for this weeks match. (more…)

Dynamo Rangers vs Birkdale United

Saturday, October 18th, 2008
Date: Saturday 18th Octoberber 2008
Location: Liverpool Road, Skelmersdale
Result: Dynamo Rangers (0)    Birkdale United (5)

Birkdale were good value for their win today and, could have reached double figures if not for stout Dynamo defending and wayward finishing. Birkdale were attempting to create a new world record for the most corners won without actualy scoring, I gave up counting at 25 attempts  goals were two for L. Armstrong, two for K. Heron and one for E. Ormerod.

Girl of the Match was awarded to K. Heron.
