Birkdale United Under 14′s Girls, were at Burscough’s home ground today for this classic encounter. The game started very evenly with both teams playing superb football. A. Allen made her debut for the team today and partnered up with E. Heslegrave working well together in the first half. It was Birkdale who converted their chance in the first half with E. Birkdale United Football Club currently has a number of different girls football teams looking for new players for the 2008/09 season. All home games are played locally in Birkdale, Southport. These teams include our Under 9, 11D, 14, 15 and Youth Girls. Anyone particularly interested in these or indeed any other age groups should contact Club Secretary, Sharon Caul. Her details can be found on the Committee page. Or the respective Managers via their contact details.

Training is given by Qualified FA Coaches who all hold First Aid Certificates, and Enhanced FA CRB Clearance.

This was the second meeting between these two Birkdale United girls football teams this season, playing at Bedford Park, this really demonstates that girls football in Southport really is becoming more popular.

Another poor start by Birkdale United U12N boys football team, who were playing at their home ground of Carr Lane in Birkdale, Southport. Which saw them fall behind to an early goal after only two minutes, 0 – 1.

The remainder of the first half was fairly evenly balanced with neither side really taking the initiative or creating any real chances.

The second half started in the same way that the first half finished. (more…)

The second cup match in as many weeks saw the girls face our sister team, Birkdale North girls football team. Despite giving a much improved performance from the previous match, the girls still went down 6-0 after conceding 3 goals in each half. 

Despite the scoreline, all the girls worked really hard, never let their heads drop and carried on fighting till the final whistle.

After a poor start in the League Cup last week, being knocked out by a strong Wigan side, Birkdale United U14 girls football team finally had renewed hope this week by actually having a substitute going into this Challenge Cup fixture, which is only the second game that they have had that priviledge, since starting this season, and being back at their home ground of Bedford Park, in Southport.
