Ladies Wanted!

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

Bet that got your attention!

For the 2009/10 season, the existing Youth team will be moving to Open Age, so for the second time the Club will have a Ladies team. It is the goal of the club that this team will be sustainable over the years, giving every single girl who starts playing football for Birkdale United  the opportunity to carry on as long as they wish, establishing multiple teams in a variety of competitions if necessary.

To this end, and to supplement the existing squad, if there are any ladies (16+) who are interested in joining a successful,  motivated and united team, then please contact Noel Warham or Sharon Caul using the contacts page.

Treble and Double in Final Flourish!

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

The West Lancashire Girls League Challenge Cup Finals brought further success for the club’s teams.

The Under 11 North put in another sparkling performance to beat a gallant Euxton side 6-0. This meant that the girls had completed the treble of League, League Cup and Challenge Cup. This is an outstanding achievement which only one Birkdale side has managed before (the current Under 14′s), and they deserve great plaudits for what has been an outstanding season.

The Under 12′s also finished their season on a high with a hard-fought 3-0 win over Northfield. This meant that they completed the Cup Double, and added to their runners-up spot in the league, means that they have enjoyed another outstanding season.

Well done to all coaches, players and parents for these fantastic achievements.

Girls enjoy Cup Final Success

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

The first day of the West Lancashire Girls League Cup Finals brought success and three great performances from the club’s teams. The Under 11′s North kicked events off with an impressive 3-1 victory over Crosby Stuart – their closest challengers in the league this season.

The Under 12′s then followed this up with a hard-fought 1-0 win over a resolute Golborne side. (Click on image)

Unfortunately, and despite an excellent performance, the Under 13′s were unable to overcome League Champions Crosby Stuart, losing by a slightly harsh 4-1.

All three teams played superbly and were a real credit to the club. Well done to you all, and good luck to those teams involved in finals tomorrow.

U12′s Burscough Tournament Winners

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009

female-under-12s-burscoughwinners.jpg Birkdale United Under 12′s Girls today made a return to the Burscough Tournament, and after successfully winning last year were desperate to regain the title. The girls made a slow start and tasted defeat in their first game to Liverpool Feds, they woke up after that and made a fantastic recovery to finish Winners in their group.

The girls played against The Fillies in the Semi Final which they won, and then the Final was again against Liverpool Feds, the girls were now very confident and started very brightly and with some fantastic play they won 2-0.

Well done to all involved, feel free to leave comments below.
