Golborne Tournament
August 4th, 2009 by NoelWarhamOn Saturday 30th May, Â Birdale Diamonds Under 11Â travelled to the Golborne tournament. The girls started the tournament slowly with a 1-0 loss in their first game against Delamere Rangers.As the group stages progressed they gained momentum and put in some fine performances,winning several games which put them through to the semi final playoffs.They faced Delamere
Rangers in the semi final and put in a great team effort to beat them 1-0.In the final they faced Wigan Athletic, and the game ended 0-0 in normal time so the final went into extra time. Unfortunately for the Diamonds, Wigan scored a goal in the last minute of extra time, which left them with not enough time to respond.Well done to the Diamonds on a fantastic team effort
on what was one of the hottest days of the year.
