Birkdale S V Formby JFC Blue

Sunday, September 13th, 2009
Date:         Sunday 6th September 2009
Location:        Carr Lane, Birkdale
Result:  Birkdale S (2) Formby JFC Blue (1)

Birkdale S were home to Formby JFC Blue for the first game of the season. The home side were slow to start and went 1-0 down with a good strike after only four minutes gone. It woke Birkdale up and they started to challenge for the ball. They where soon level when a good ball from Casterton to Welford who took the ball towards goal taking two Formby players on and slotted the ball cooly past the oncoming Formby keeper from the edge of the box - 1-1 and game on. After 15 minutes Birkdale lost Welford to a injured ankle and on came Middleton for his debut game. The rest of the half was very evenand ended 1-1.

The second half was a good battle between two very good teams but Birkdale managed to get the winner from a great shot from O`Neil from just outside the box that gave the Formby keeper no chance. Both keepers were tested in the game with both making great saves but Birkdale were the eventual winners of a fantastic football match. Well done to everyone involved in a great game.

Result:  Birkdale Eagles (1) Formby Black (1)

Great game tonight, very competitive end to end stuff.  Both Rawling and Pritchard had a great battle in the middle of the park. The defence were as usual like a brick wall – well done Allen and Parker.  Sharrock made some great runs down the flanks. Davies put in a solid performance, I thought he had lost the eye out of his teddy bear. well he seemed to have found it by the final whistle.

Shaw – what a goalie you are. Woods put in some great tackles to put Birkdale on the attack. McGuigan, as always, top class performance.

Well done boys. Love coaching you all - Kev.

Man of the Match – the lot of ya!
Parent of the Month award T.B.A.

Great game today against Town Green which we lost 2-0. This was the first time these boys have played together, and it is a pleasure to be their manager. Town Green are a really tough team. Birkdale were brilliant, all the boys enjoyed the game - well done boys, keep it up. Also, well done to Town Green.

Man of the Match - J. Shaw who gave an awwwwwesooooome performance!

Birkdale Hawks V Southport FC Black

Sunday, September 13th, 2009
Date:         Tuesday 8th September 2009
Location:        Carr Lane, Birkdale
Result:  Birkdale Hawks (0) Southport FC Black (4)

The game started off even with both sides making good chances. Things seemed to go Birkdale’s way as Birkdale made a great link up but as the weather poured down the home team seemed to dishearten. Then Southport got a goal and it all went wrong for Birkdale from that point as they ended up losing 4-0.

Manager says: Heads up and lets get our first win this week.
