After two good wins, Birkdale where on a high going into this game. The game started well with the midfield of Oyebola ,Casterton,and Flatts and Welford up front and it wasn’t long before a great ball from Casterton found Welford on the edge of the box who cleaverly chipped the Town Green keeper as he came to collect the ball making it 1-0 to Birkdale.
Soon after Oyebola on the right crossed a great ball into the box and there to tap it in was Welford again for his seventh goal of the season. Birkdale looked home and dry but Town Green had different ideas and to their credit keept battling and Birkdale started to make silly errors.Before the half was over Birkdale found themselves 3-2 down.
The second half was very even with Town Green pushing for their fourth goal but it was Casterton who saved the game for Birkdale scoring from the edge of the box with three minutes to go, maaking the final score in an entertaining game 3-3.
