New Players – Under 9 Boys, Under 9/10 Girls

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

The club is looking to recruit players for next season at a number of age groups.

Firstly, Seb from the current Under 8′s is looking for a few new players for his team. Training takes place on a Tuesday evening from 6-7pm at Bedford Park. For further details, either head along to training or contact the Secretary.

We are also looking to set up Under 9 and Under 10 Girls teams for next year. Our youngest female teams have been incredibly successful this year with the Under 10′s winning their league and the Under 11′s finishing close runners-up. Players of all levels of experience and ability are welcome. If you are interested in these or any other age groups, please contact Club Secretary, Sharon Caul, via the contacts page.

Birkdale Ladies are just Champion!

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

Birkdale United’s adult female section achieved a notable first as the Liverpool team clinched the League Championship with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Leighbridge. Goals came from Ferguson and Rodriguez, although ‘keeper Rimmer was the hero with TWO penalty saves!

This is a fantastic and notable achievement as it signals the first promotion for the Women’s Section, and the Club will now have a team in the North West Women’s League from next season.

This is on top of the notable achievement in running two women’s teams this season in separate leagues. The quality of play from both teams has been superb, and the way in which both teams have supported each other is very encouraging indeed.

Congratulations to all the Ladies and to Dave, Rob, Loren and the rest of the coaching team. On behalf of this webmaster – thank you!

Under 11′s Girls are Runners-Up!

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

The Under 11′s Girls have done fantastically well in their first season under the stewardship of Graham and Hazel, and have rounded off their season by being Under 11′s West Division Runners-Up. They were really close to winning the League, finishing only a point behind Athletico, but still this is a superb achievement and the girls and their Coaches should be very proud of all they have achieved. Well done to you all!

Under 13′s Girls complete the Double!

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

The Under 13′s Girls have completed a memorable unbeaten season with a fantastic 4-2 Challenge Cup victory over Northfield. This is a fantastic achievement by Duggy and the girls – many congratulations from everyone at the Club!

Under 10′s Girls are Champions!

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

Many congratulations to Peter, Mark and the Under 10′s Girls who have been crowned West Lancashire Girls League Champions in their first season of competitive football. They finished tied on points with Mill Hill, but the League have sensibly decided that both teams will share the honour of calling themselves Champions.

This is a particularly impressive honour as they have remained unbeaten throughout the League campaign. Well done to everyone involved with the team.
