Birkdale N (1)    Crosby Stuart (1) |
The first real chance of the game fell to L. Williams after ten minutes but his shot slipped agonisingly just wide. The game continued to ebb and flow with Birkdale having slightly the better of it but no more chances were created until L. Jackson shot just wide following a goal mouth scramble after 28 minutes.
Â
Both teams made a bright start to the game but neither side was really able to take control.
Â
Birkdale finally scored on the stroke of half time with a great run and shot from M. Regan, 1 – 0.
The second half started in very much the same way as the first half with neither side creating any real goal scoring opportunities.
After 15 minutes, Crosby Stuart had their first chance of the game when a ball crossed from the left was met by the advancing forward but N. Knight, having had nothing to do until this point, made a good point blank save.
Crosby Stuart were now starting to apply more pressure and were rewarded with a well taken headed goal from a corner, 1 – 1.
That was the way it stayed until full time.
A draw was probably a fair result at the end of the game but yet again Birkdale can rue their missed chances in the first half that might have sealed victory.  Joint Man of the Match this week were B. Pike and J. Young.
